Hi, i’m Jacki from Wild Blessing Ceremonies
Your Wild Wedding Celebrant in Cornwall
I left South Africa just over 22 years ago to discover and explore distant shores, embrace different cultures, ancient traditions and diverse Spiritual paths . My personal journey has included: living in a Buddhist Community (where I got married),a surfing town, (full of stories I could write a book about), a beautiful village on the Emerald Isle, (full of shenanigans, leprechauns and music), an organic farm in the Cotswolds, (peaceful and beautiful) and finally Penzance, (the coastal harbour town of infamous smugglers, pirates and operas!)
My life experiences have shaped me, enriched me and continue to keep me curious and make me who I am today. I’m open-minded and comfortable with couples who come from many varied backgrounds, heritages, cultures, beliefs or orientation. I trained with the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids as I love that they have respect for Nature, our Planet and all that are on it!I also have extra training with the UnboringOfficiant! from Canada.
Which Ceremony is perfect for me?
You may be wondering what an Intimate Elopement, a Pagan/Celtic Handfasting and a Micro-wedding in Cornwall is and are not sure which one is right for you. I will give you a brief outline of the differences below. To learn more about these Ceremonies, please check out my
Outdoor Ceremonies Page or my informative blogs where I go into more detail about them, what I offer and how we can work together.
Historically an Elopement was when a couple escaped from having a formal, traditional wedding, perhaps to someone they did not love, by running away to get married in secret without telling their family. For the modern couple it has a completely different meaning.
Our couples choose to travel somewhere special and scenic (like Cornwall) usually on their own, with or without telling anyone so they can enjoy the freedom of celebrating their wedding day how they want to. And I love helping them!
Pagan & Celtic Handfasting
A Handfasting is probably my favourite Ceremony. The Ancient Celtic Ritual where the hands/wrists are tied together with ribbons, cords or fabric, symbolises the binding of two lives and two hearts together. A Handfasting is used in Wiccan or Pagan Commitment Ceremonies to publicly declare your intent to marry and it would last for a ‘year and a day’ you could then decide to continue your union for longer. For your Wedding Ceremony it would be for ‘as long as love lasts’.
A true Pagan/Celtic Handfasting has Nature-based Spirituality and Symbolism at its heart. This ritual, however, has been incorporated into mainstream religious and secular wedding ceremonies around the world and has become popular as a ‘Hand-tying Ritual’ within its own right. Any number of guests can attend your Handfasting Ceremony.
A micro wedding is a wedding with less than 20 guests. Because it’s smaller in size, it’s more budget friendly, more relaxed, and shorter in length than a traditional wedding day. A micro-wedding differs from both an elopement and an intimate wedding . An elopement is often done in secret and is attended by the couple and two witnesses (if you want to legalise your ‘marriage’). It may be Celebrant-led (no witness needed as your wedding is not legally binding) or even a quick and simple registry office ceremony but your Micro-Wedding is not done in secret.
The guest list is just much smaller. Micro weddings are also different from intimate weddings. A small wedding is considered to have between 30 and 60 guests. Micro weddings can still include wedding traditions if using a Celebrant and couples can get creative in ways that might be more difficult with larger affairs. Whether your Wedding has 2 guests, 15 guests or more, when we are allowed, there is a ceremony that’s perfect for you. I hope you have a better understanding of the differences between them and of the types of wedding ceremonies I enjoy creating for you.
WHAT IS A CELEBRANT LED CEREMONY?
It’s Freedom.. It’s a totally personalised, unique, unboring and bespoke Wedding Ceremony, created and led by a Celebrant (me) for awesome, free-thinking, nature-loving, wild-spirited couples (like you), so that you can celebrate your love story anywhere you want, however you want and with who you want. Freedom to focus on your LOVE, not the legalities!
CAN I GET MARRIED OUTSIDE IN THE UK?
NO! Not outdoors ‘in the wild’ If you want to have a legally binding marriage ‘outdoors’, you will need to find a licensed venue that has a permanent outdoor structure (like a Gazebo) that has a solid floor and a fixed roof structure (not a tent or marquee) and you will need a Registrar to sign the register. As your legal ‘marriage’ only requires a 10 minute signing appointment and the reciting of your contractual words and your name, this can be done anytime, before or after your Celebrant-led wedding ceremony, at your local Registry Office, just email them to find out more or to make an appointment. I know which one our freedom-loving couples would choose!
CAN I GET MARRIED ON A BEACH IN THE UK?
Yes, most definitely! If you have a Celebrant-led Intimate Elopement, Handfasting or Micro-wedding Ceremony in Cornwall, with a bespoke script that includes all the rituals, poems, readings, music and words you want, you will be able to have your wedding ceremony anywhere, anyplace and anyhow you like. You can choose from the beach, a sea-cave, forests, woodlands, mines, sacred stone circles or any other location of your choice! If you have a special spot, outdoors, perhaps where you first met, had your first kiss or somewhere that holds precious memories for you, you have the freedom to celebrate your Wedding Ceremony there.
PAGAN HANDFASTING CEREMONIES
A Handfasting is an Ancient Celtic Ritual where the hands/wrists are tied together with ribbons, cords or fabric to symbolise the binding of two lives together. This ritual is often used in Wiccan or Pagan Wedding Ceremonies to publicly declare your intent to marry (Betrothal) and would usually last for a ‘year and a day’. For your wedding ceremony it would be for ‘as long as love lasts’ or ‘for eternity’.
A Hand-tying has become popular in mainstream religious and secular wedding ceremonies around the world. There are many ways to include and personalize these rituals into your ceremony. Your ribbons, ropes, cords or fabric can be different widths, textures and thickness and be woven together in groups of 3, 4, 6 or even 9.
